What Is Play Therapy
It is a non-judgmental client-centered way of helping children that are finding parts of their life difficult to manage, by using the natural means of play. The sessions are held in an environment that is safe and confidential.
Why Use Play? Adults can normally use words to communicate, children will use play to learn, communicate and explore their world. Play Therapy is based on well-established theories that can help a child’s developmental growth. The use of play helps the child to explore their feelings and work through them. What will happen is a session? Consistency is of uppermost importance, so the sessions will take place at the same time and place. The therapist offers a safe and confidential environment for the child to work with a large range of creative play material, so that the child can have total freedom to explore their personal feelings within safe boundaries. How does it help? A child can feel upset and find it hard to share their feelings and their reactions to them.
